To train participants in the safe and correct methods of dealing with hazardous material, including dealing with emergencies related to hazardous material.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
This course is intended for all personnel involved or likely to be involved in the handling, carriage, storage, and transport of hazardous material, including those involved in ensuring the security of Hazardous Material shipments.
Course Objectives
Hazmat awareness training provides employees, personnel and those who are responsible for overseeing, preparing, handling and transporting hazardous materials with the necessary knowledge to handle these substances safely. The participants will receive a thorough introduction and grounding in the requirements and stipulations of the IMDG-Code. The characteristics of different IMDG classes will be explained and demonstrated as well as methods of identifying hazardous materials based on the marking, labelling and placarding of containers containing hazardous substances. An understanding of the documentation required, internationally, for the safe transport of dangerous cargoes will be provided. Legal requirements and importance of proper storage and segregation of hazardous materials will be realized after detailed reference to the IMDG code. Participants will learn emergency response procedures and medical first aid and be briefed regarding the importance of contingency planning and security arrangements.
